Let’s sum up! It was October 3rd 2007, when in Munich Racecourse "Germany Vs Italy"- Part Two has been displayed. Part Two, indeed, because Part One has been displayed some day before in the football semi-final of World Championship and we had in mind this kind of challenge - till the last furlong on Bavaria’s grass. What we didn’t expected, although desired deeply, was the performance of our national team. In fact we won again!

The Jockey Team Italy composed of Dario VARGIU, Mario ESPOSITO, Marco MONTERISO, Pierantonio CONVERTINO and Luca MANIEZZI faced in 5 races the Jockey Team Germany, composed of Andreas SUBORICS, Karoly KEREKES, Christian CHACHARY, Alessandro SCHIKORA and Benjamin CLOS. Our national team won the 1st Edition of Jockey Cup, just in the last of 5 races dedicated to the event, where an incredible head to head, mounting high quoted horses our 5 jockeys bypassed the Germans, who scored more points till that moment of the contest.

The prize-giving ceremony was simple but significant. It was the first time our team heard the national anthem played just for them after winning some race, it was nice and funny because everybody was embarrassed about all the people present in the racecourse singing the anthem and applauding them in the same moment. At the end we had a dinner in a typical Bavaria’s restaurant drinking a toast with the bear to the victory and eating German würstel.

Back to Milan, among the total indifference of the press and racing environment we celebrated our victory on San Siro Racecourse, where we consigned the plate for the memory of the victory of our team and we were happy anyway because our victory to us was an honour for our Country in the name of the passion for the Italian and International Horse Racing.
